The CAPSI PhD Fellowship: Shaping the Narrative of Dignified Work for Young Africans
This prestigious fellowship program seeks exceptional doctoral students from across Africa to contribute to groundbreaking research on the impact of non-profit organizations on youth employment.
Focus Area: Creating Dignified and Fulfilling Work
The program places a specific emphasis on exploring how non-profit organizations are fostering dignified and fulfilling work opportunities for young Africans. Your research will delve into critical questions surrounding:
- How are non-profit organizations empowering young Africans to secure meaningful employment?
- What challenges do young Africans face in the job market, and how are non-profits addressing these obstacles?
- What strategies are proving most effective in creating sustainable and fulfilling work experiences for African youth?
Eligibility:
- Doctoral student enrolled full-time at an African university in a relevant program (Social Sciences, Development Studies, etc.)
- Research focus aligned with the project’s theme (non-profit sector’s contribution to dignified youth employment)
- Strong interest in the non-profit sector and its role in African development
- Commitment to teamwork and program participation
- Age: Less than 35 years old
- In the first or second year of your PhD program
- Citizen of a pre-selected African country (Burkina Faso, DRC, Egypt, etc.) – see full list for details

- Updated CV
- Personal statement (max. 500 words) outlining your research interests, motivations, and alignment with CAPSI’s program.
- Proposed research project outline (max. 2500 words) covering specific areas like background, research questions, methodology, and ethical considerations.
- Letter of recommendation from your supervisor (or proposed supervisor).
- Academic transcripts
- Proof of age and university admission
