WOMEN IN AFRICA WIA YOUNG LEADERS PROGRAMME 2024

About the WIA Young Leaders Programme: The program offers a two-part training opportunity for the five winners. Initially, they will undergo a digital training course focused on women’s leadership and future skills, scheduled for the second quarter of 2024. Following this, they will participate in an in-person session in Paris during September.

WIA will provide personalized monitoring to address the individual needs of the Young Leaders and facilitate their skill development.

The in-person session will be held in Paris, offering participants the chance to explore the city, attend essential networking meetings, and enjoy exclusive experiences like visiting the Maison Dior archives and Lazard offices. Upon their return, a virtual event will allow the Young Leaders to share their experiences.

Through this program, the selected Young Leaders will enhance their skills, expand their networks, discover new organizations, and meet influential figures from business, politics, and media.

Eligibility:

Candidates for the WIA Young Leaders Programme must be African nationals with a strong interest in the continent’s development. The selection criteria include career achievements, exemplary leadership qualities, and consideration for candidates from underprivileged backgrounds.

Criteria for Selection:

• Interest in Africa’s development and vision for the continent
• Ability to blend business conduct with social impact
• Recognition of the importance of public-private dialogue
• Potential to become decision-makers at a high level
• Conviction and teamwork skills
• Social mobility (self-made paths are valued)
• Strong connections with Africa (either through birth or engagement with the continent)
• Qualities of humility, empathy, and resilience

The final selection will occur in the first week of June, with five young African women leaders chosen as the inaugural laureates of the WIA Young Leaders programme.

Value of WIA Young Leaders Programme: In 2024, the selected Young Leaders will receive international support through the program.
