Applications are now open for the Women for Africa Foundation Learn Africa Scholarship Programme.
Requirements:
General requirements:
– Applicants must be women, with nationality and residence in an African country.
– Enrollment in an African university or possession of a university degree issued in an African country is required. For postgraduate scholarships, a Bachelor’s degree is necessary. The specific degree required may vary depending on the scholarship applied for (refer to detailed information on each scholarship).
– Fulfillment of specific requirements of the applied scholarship.
– Only one application per individual will be accepted.
Technical and academic requirements:
– Carefully review the information provided in the description of the desired studies and on the university website (linked to each scholarship) regarding academic requirements.
– The beneficiary must provide the host university with duly legalized, certified, and translated copies of their university degree, academic record, or any other required documentation. It is advisable to initiate the administrative process upon accepting the scholarship, as embassy/consulate and/or Ministry of Education or Foreign Affairs procedures in the applicant’s country may take a considerable amount of time.
– Presentation of a certificate issued by the applicant’s university verifying eligibility for the desired studies (master’s or Ph.D.) is necessary.
– For online scholarships, applicants must possess a properly equipped computer to participate in online courses, considering aspects such as internet connection, web browser, operating system, desktop applications, webcam, Zoom/Microsoft Teams applications, etc.
Language requirements:
– Ensure possession of required language skills before applying. A high level of proficiency in the language of instruction (B2 or C1 depending on the host university) is mandatory. Language proficiency must be proven through presentation of an official language certificate or a telephone interview with the university.
– Upon selection, applicants will receive notification via email and possibly a phone call from the Women for Africa Foundation. Communication with foundation staff must be conducted in the language of the applied scholarship.
Benefits:
Scholarship coverage:
– Online scholarships cover only tuition fees.
– Face-to-face scholarships cover costs including tuition fees, round trip, accommodation and meals (either in a University Hall or through a monthly allowance), health insurance.
– Scholarships do not guarantee coverage of additional expenses such as re-enrollment fees for failed subjects, internet connection for online scholarships, visa issuance costs for travel to Spain, legalization, recognition, and translation of university degrees and academic records, issuance of certificates upon completion of studies in Spain, or other daily expenses like clothing, hygiene items, footwear, leisure, or local transport.
– Each scholarship is intended for a single individual; no support will be provided for accompanying family members.
Evaluation criteria:
– A specialized committee will evaluate applications based on CV, reference letter(s), motivation letter, language skills, and project/concept note (if required).
