“WE MUST PLAY OUR ROLES TO END CRIME IN OGUN — NSCDC BOSS”
The commandant of the Nigeria Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ogun State, Idris Ojelabi, has urged stakeholders to participate in the effort to eradicate cultism and other social vices in the state.
Mr. Ojelabi made the appeal during a courtesy visit by members of the Federated Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun Council, to his office in Abeokuta.
He maintained that, “All hands should be on deck to develop moral education in our schools and homes to tackle insecurity, especially cultism.
“Cultists come from our homes; somebody gave birth to them. The last clash that happened in Sagamu, the mother of one of them was killed. The sensitization of good morals must start from home; we need to reignite that moral education.
“All institutions should play their parts: parents, religious leaders, and all institutions need to play their parts in sensitizing these youths. We can engage in catching young programs in primary and secondary schools.
“If we engage the youths in social education, I believe we’ll be able to mold them from the start and bring them up the way they’re supposed to grow so that when they become adults, they would not deviate from it.”
