VLIR-UOS SCHOLARSHIPS FOR DEVELOPING COUNTRIES
VLIR-UOS scholarships for developing countries: VLIR-UOS provides scholarships to students from developing countries to pursue training and master’s programs in Belgium. These scholarships cover all associated expenses. Each year, VLIR-UOS grants up to 180 scholarships to first-year master’s students and 70 scholarships to training participants.
The master’s programs, ranging from one to two academic years, focus on specific issues relevant to developing countries. They are designed to equip graduates with the knowledge to share and apply in their home institution and country.
Selection Procedure for Training and Master’s Programs and Eligible Countries:
Applicants seeking both academic admission and a VLIR-UOS scholarship must fulfill both the admission requirements and the scholarship criteria. Those applying for academic admission only need to meet the admission requirements of the host university where the program is conducted. The host university is responsible for academic admissions. While academic performance is considered, relevant professional experience and prospects for applying acquired insights after returning to the country are the primary selection criteria. Admission requirements vary for each program.
The scholarship selection is conducted jointly by VLIR-UOS and the host university. The host university submits scholarship applications to the VLIR-UOS secretariat after academic admission. The VLIR-UOS scholarship criteria, including qualification and selection criteria, are taken into account. All applicants receive an acknowledgment of receipt of their application. Those accepted academically and for the scholarship will be notified by VLIR-UOS and the host university via email. Applicants not selected academically will be informed by the host university.

Algeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe
Application Deadlines:
Master’s program: February 1st Training program: February 1st, except for the training on the Great Lakes (November 30th).
