VENTO FURNITURE CONTRIBUTES HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION TO UNIVERSITY OF ABUJA
As a component of its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Vento Furniture, a prominent furniture company in Nigeria, has contributed a building for hostel accommodation to the University of Abuja.
During the inauguration event in Abuja held yesterday, Hassan Yigit, the Chief Executive Officer of Vento Furniture, expressed that the company’s mission goes beyond financial gains; it is also focused on giving back to society.
He revealed that the company has directed its CSR initiatives towards children, students, and similar causes, emphasizing their significance as the future. Yigit stated, “We believe that is the only way to build the right future for all of us.”
Yigit further explained, “For us, the business is not about having benefit; we are committed to how we can give back to the community, give back to the children, and education is the future for our children and the future for all of us. So, we decided to give back to society in a right way, to build a hostel for the students of the University of Abuja.”
In addition to the hostel project, Vento Furniture has undertaken the renovation of public schools and actively engages in charitable activities during festive periods such as Christmas, Ramadan, and Sallah. Yigit highlighted their annual tradition of distributing meat and Ramadan packages to communities, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to societal well-being.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na’allah, represented by the institution’s registrar, Yahaya Muhammed, acknowledged the current accommodation challenges, stating that out of the school’s regular student population of approximately 25,000, only about 6,000 currently receive accommodation.
He called on other organizations and philanthropic individuals to follow the example set by Vento Furniture and collaborate with the institution to create additional accommodation spaces for students.
Muhammed Abubakar of Near Foundation, commenting on the project, emphasized its significance as a noteworthy achievement in the continuous efforts to support education and alleviate poverty in the country.
