UNODC NIGERIA: YOUNG PEACE BUILDERS WANTED 2024
Are you a passionate changemaker aged 18-29 residing in Adamawa or Yobe State? Do you dream of safeguarding children from violence and exploitation? Then UNODC’s prestigious 2024 Nigeria Youth Peace Champions Program beckons you!
For over a decade, a shadow has loomed over Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe. Children – our future – have been ruthlessly targeted by extremist groups, forced into violence, and subjected to unimaginable suffering.
But hope persists! Recognizing this urgency, UNODC, through its End Violence Against Children (ENDVAC) Team, is launching a powerful initiative: Protecting Children From Violence in Contexts of Insecurity, North-East Nigeria.
This comprehensive project aims to:
- Empower children and their communities in vulnerable regions.
- Strengthen child protection measures and accountability mechanisms.
- Champion reconciliation efforts and foster a lasting peace.
Here’s where you, the hero, come in!
UNODC seeks 16 exceptional Youth Peace Champions:
- 8 will champion peace in Adamawa State.
- 8 will champion peace in Yobe State.
You, alongside community leaders and NGOs, will be the vanguard of change. Your mission:
- Disseminate crucial messages of peace through innovative online and offline channels.
- Facilitate the resolution of low-level conflicts before they escalate.
- Identify emerging threats and work towards solutions.
- Harness the power of social and traditional media to promote a culture of peace.
We are particularly seeking individuals fluent in Kanuri or Hausa, with English proficiency a bonus.
