UN-WSA NIGERIA YOUTH AMBASSADORS’ CONFERENCE: ZAMFARA SEEKS INNOVATORS’ PARTNERSHIP ON SECURITY, HEALTHTECH, AND ELEARNING

The Zamfara State Government, led by Governor Dauda Lawal, has expressed its willingness to collaborate with technology innovators in the areas of security, health, and education. Dr. Habib Abubakar Gajam, the Executive Secretary of the Zamfara Information Technology Development Agency (ZITDA), announced this partnership during the United Nations World Summit Award (UN-WSA) Nigeria Youth Ambassadors Conference 2024.

ZITDA, serving as a clearinghouse for ICT projects and programs in the state, aims to work with technology ecosystem players to address socio-economic challenges in the region. The agency is particularly interested in collaborating with partners to focus on key pillars like literacy/skills education, e-Government, and human capital development.

The announcement was made during the launch of the InnovationbedAI Career Transformation and Mentorship Product & Services Portal, which emphasized developing innovation capacity in key areas among youths, such as rural farming, healthcare, security/safety, green energy, eCommerce, eLearning & education, smart-settlement, open government, inclusion & empowerment.

The UN-WSA Nigeria Youth Ambassadors Conference provided a platform for showcasing the WSA Youth Ambassadors network, and the Zamfara State Government sees this collaboration as an opportunity to leapfrog its technology ecosystem, particularly in the areas of security, e-learning, and health tech.

ZITDA recognizes the rapid evolution of technology and the importance of collaboration to harness the potential of artificial intelligence and innovation. The agency is eager to empower youth and innovators to contribute to the state’s development.

The event featured various stakeholders, including the President of OCCAM (Observatory on Digital Communication), Architect Pierpaolo Saporito, and Prof. Amjad Umar, the lead Architect of the UN ICT4SIDS (Information and Communication Technology for Small Island Developing States) initiative. The UN ICT4SIDS initiative focuses on supporting smart hubs that provide specialized community services, contributing to rapid regional transformation.

The partnership between the Zamfara State Government and technology innovators aligns with the broader goal of leveraging digital transformation to address societal challenges and foster economic development in the region. The state government believes that collaborations with organizations like UN-WSA and Programos Foundation can propel Zamfara’s technology ecosystem forward, bringing positive change to the community.
