Actress Funke Akindele, renowned as a box office powerhouse, has achieved significant success in the UK with her latest cinematic venture, ‘A Tribe Called Judah,’ garnering £80,000.
This film, already celebrated as the highest-grossing Nollywood production, made history in the UK by amassing an impressive £80,000 in just four weeks of screening, breaking Box Office records. The announcement came through Film One, an entertainment company, on the image-sharing platform Instagram.
In a post, Film One congratulated Funke Akindele, referring to her as the “One and only Big Baller” and expressing admiration for her focused approach.
Over the past three years, Funke Akindele has consistently shattered records and set new benchmarks with her blockbuster films, such as ‘Omo Ghetto the Saga’ (2020) and ‘Battle on the Buka Street’ (2022). These movies stand as the highest-grossing in Nollywood history, with ‘Omo Ghetto the Saga’ earning over ₦636 million and ‘Battle on the Buka Street’ surpassing ₦668 million at the box office.
Maintaining her triumphant streak, Funke Akindele’s latest festive offering, ‘A Tribe Called Judah,’ has further etched its mark in history. It secured the largest opening ever for both a Funke Akindele film and a Nollywood production, accumulating a remarkable N122 million at the box office in less than two weeks, according to records from the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria.
