THE GOVERNOR DIKKO RADDA URGES INCREASED FEDERAL FUNDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT TO TACKLE INSECRURITY CHALLENGES IN KATSINA STATE.
Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has requested support from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to address security challenges affecting tertiary institutions in the state.
During a working visit to TETFund in Abuja, Governor Radda highlighted the impact of insecurity on students and emphasized the need for increased security measures in educational institutions.
He expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for interventions and identified TETFund as a vital source of support, especially amid economic hardships, currency depreciation, and security concerns in the northern part of the country.
Governor Radda emphasized the importance of TETFund’s interventions in providing infrastructure for student safety. He mentioned the state’s plan to convert its ICT institution into a university of technology.
In response, Sonny Echono, the Executive Secretary of TETFund, acknowledged insecurity as a national issue and assured that necessary infrastructure would be implemented to address these challenges.
Echono highlighted TETFund’s commitment to prioritizing trouble spots, including Katsina, in its security interventions. He underscored President Bola Tinubu’s determination to ensure that education continues even in times of crisis, emphasizing the importance of bringing out-of-school students back to the educational system.
