THE GOI PEACE FOUNDATION INTERNATIONAL ESSAY CONTEST 2024 FOR YOUNG PEOPLE (USD1,000+ PRIZE)
Annual essay contest! This is your chance to share your ideas and experiences to promote peace and a better future.
Who can apply?
- Anyone up to 25 years old (as of June 15, 2024)
- Two age categories:
- Children (up to 14 years old)
- Youth (15-25 years old)
Theme: My Experience of Overcoming Conflict
Have you ever faced a disagreement or argument? How did you work through it? What did you learn from the experience? Share your story and how you plan to use those lessons to make a positive impact in your life and the world around you.
Requirements:
- Essays must be 700 words or less in English or French, or 1600 characters or less in Japanese.
- Include your name, email address, and essay title at the top of the first page.
- Any format is acceptable (font style, size, line spacing).
- Submit your essay in MS Word (DOC/DOCX) or PDF format.
- Teachers and youth leaders can submit group entries by creating a “school/organization entrant” account online.
- Essays must be original and unpublished work.
- No plagiarism or AI-generated content will be accepted.
- Only one entry per person. Co-authored essays are not allowed.
Awards:
- Children’s category and Youth category will have separate awards:
- 1st Prize: Certificate, 100,000 yen (approx. US$660), and a gift (1 winner)
- 2nd Prize: Certificate, 50,000 yen (approx. US$330), and a gift (3 winners)
- 3rd Prize: Certificate and a gift (5 winners)
- Honorable Mention: Certificate and a gift (25 winners)
- Top 3 winners in each category will be invited to a virtual Winners Gathering.
- Additional awards (Best School Award, School Incentive Award) may be given.
- All winners will be announced on October 31, 2024 (Japan time) on the contest website. Prizes will be mailed in January 2025.
