THE DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT HAS ALLOCATED N15.7 BILLION FOR FLOOD CONTROL PROJECTS IN WARRI AND ITS ENVIRONS UNDER PHASE III.

The Delta State government has revealed a budget allocation of N15.7 billion for the execution of flood control projects in Warri, Effurun, and nearby regions within the Warri South and Uvwie Local Government Areas.

During a State Executive Council (EXCO) gathering presided over by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori at the Government House in Asaba, Commissioner for Information, Mr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, made this announcement to journalists.

Osuoza also disclosed that the EXCO meeting approved N600 million as counterpart funding for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Conditional Grants Scheme in the state.

He emphasized Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to alleviating the challenges faced by Nigerians and Deltans, ensuring efforts to bring smiles to their faces.

Key projects endorsed during the meeting include Phase III flood control initiatives covering Airport Road, Ugborikoko, Bendel Estate, and Ugboroke in Uvwie and Warri South, amounting to N15.7 billion.

Additionally, approval was granted for the release of N600 million as counterpart funding for the implementation of the 2024 SDGs’ Conditional Grants and Schemes in the state.

Godwin Ejinyere, Director-General of the Warri Uvwie and Environs Development Agency, provided updates on the flood control project, mentioning the completion of Phase I and Phase II at 85%.

He outlined plans for addressing flooding in the Warri Stadium area and ongoing design efforts targeting flood-prone regions like Enerhen Community, Igbudu, and Odibo Estate.
