The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) reports the successful registration of 2.5 million businesses in the country, intensifying efforts to ensure comprehensive registration of business owners operating nationwide across the 36 states.
Hussaini Magaji, the Registrar General of the commission, disclosed this information during a one-day leadership retreat for Heads of Departments and State Offices heads in Abuja on Tuesday.
Magaji explained, “The meeting is the first management is holding with heads of state offices with the matching order to go and generate data of all businesses taking place in the states as the CAC will no longer condone businesses operating without registration.”
He emphasized that, in alignment with the president’s mandate to create 50 million jobs for Nigerians, the CAC has successfully registered 2.5 million businesses and is on track to meet the revenue target of N120 billion this year.
Regarding the purpose of the retreat, Magaji highlighted a paradigm shift in the commission’s operations to deliver quality services to customers and streamline the business registration process for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
However, he urged state coordinators to urgently ensure the commission gathers comprehensive data of business operators across all 36 states of the federation.
