STANBIC IBTC PENSION MANAGERS HAS PLEDGED TO INVEST MORE THAN N100 MILLION IN THE RENOVATION OF A WARD AT YABA PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL.

In a notable demonstration of corporate social responsibility, Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers, a subsidiary of Stanbic IBTC Holdings and a prominent pension fund administrator in Nigeria, has renovated Ward MS/F3 at the Yaba Psychiatric Hospital in Lagos. This ward encompasses both female and male sections, along with medical personnel offices and a recreational area for patients.

As part of the company’s corporate social investment (CSI) initiative, the renovation aims to improve the living conditions of patients at the well-known psychiatric facility.

The management of Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers announced the completion of the project during a handover event held in Lagos on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at the premises of Yaba Psychiatric Hospital.

The extensive renovation project, costing a total of 107,857,474.75 million Naira, included the installation of hospital beds, air conditioners, fans, upgraded kitchens with refrigerators and cooking units, toilet facilities with sinks and soap dispensers, shower stalls with water heaters, electrical wiring, refurbished nurses’ stations with staff chairs, tables, and cabinets, sinks with soap dispensers, water tanks with pumping machines, and bedside lockers for the numerous patients who visit these wards annually. Additionally, two 40-inch LED LG TVs were provided and installed to entertain patients during their downtime.

During the handover ceremony, Olumide Oyetan, the CEO of Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers, reiterated the company’s dedication to community development and improving lives.

He stated, “Health is one of our three CSI pillars because as an organization committed to the long-term sustainability of Nigerians, we believe that investments in health must be consistent and sustained. Recognizing the challenges faced by individuals dealing with mental health issues in our country, we seized this opportunity to support the hospital management in creating a conducive environment that will enhance care and expedite the recovery of patients facing these challenges.”

Nike Bajomo, the Executive Director of Business Development at Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers, expressed gratitude to all partners and stakeholders who contributed to the project’s success.

Bajomo remarked, “Today is a very emotional day for us as it marks the realization of the dream that we envisioned several months ago when we embarked on this project. Hospital staff expressed enthusiasm about the renovated wards and their potential to positively impact patient care and recovery.

The handover ceremony was attended by representatives from Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers, the management of Yaba Psychiatric Hospital, esteemed guests, and hospital patients.
