SOLUDO DISTRIBUTES 2000 LAPTOPS TO SCHOOL PERSONNEL

The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, on Tuesday, 12th March, 2024, distributed 2000 laptops to headteachers, ICT teachers, and principals of public and public-mission schools across the state.

This is in keeping with the governor’s mantra of ‘Everything Technology and Technology Everywhere’.

The distribution aligns seamlessly with the vision of the governor, which the Anambra State ICT Agency is driving, aiming to ensure the full digitization of all sectors of the state’s economy.

Headteachers, ICT teachers, and principals owning laptops implies that they will wholeheartedly embrace the digitization vision of the governor. They will guide school pupils and students from an early age to participate in the digital revolution in the state.

In Governor Soludo’s address, he emphasized the crucial role of teachers in molding individuals and contributing to the new Anambra project. He stressed the importance of quality teachers in predicting the future of any society.

The governor expressed the need for teachers and headteachers to transition from analogy mode to technology-driven education in alignment with the state’s focus on Everything Technology and Technology Everywhere.

Governor Soludo outlined plans to prioritize work tools for teachers and students, scaling up the numbers as resources permit. He mentioned the launch of free public Wi-Fi in strategic places, with plans to extend it to schools, fostering opportunities for the ingenuity and creativity of students.

The governor highlighted the deliberate focus on young people due to their capacity to embrace technology, emphasizing the necessity for teachers to champion 21st-century education.

He pledged to provide teachers with laptops as essential work tools, aligning with the administration’s goal to make schools smart and teachers technologically adept.

Governor Soludo underscored the importance of structured training programs in collaboration with the ICT Agency and the Solution Innovation District to ensure effective use of the equipment, exploring the latest Artificial Intelligence enablements.

He reiterated the positive transformation witnessed in the last 24 months under his administration and promised more developmental strides.

Mr. Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, the managing director of the State ICT Agency, praised the governor’s commitment to making Anambra State a technology hub. He emphasized the significance of capturing teachers in the digitization revolution for a brighter technological future.

Agbata highlighted the state’s strides in technology, driven by the governor’s belief and strong investment in the sector. He emphasized the readiness of the ICT agency to drive the governor’s vision of ‘Everything Technology and Technology Everywhere.’

Recipients of the laptops expressed immense joy, commending Governor Soludo as a proactive leader in tune with the needs of the times. They pledged to deploy the equipment effectively for its intended purpose, embracing the digital revolution in the state’s education sector.

The ceremony’s high point was the distribution of laptops, accompanied by expressions of solidarity from the beneficiaries.
