University of York GREAT Scholarship Details:
The University of York GREAT Scholarship is open to applicants from the majority of postgraduate taught courses for China, Ghana, Pakistan, Thailand, and Turkey. Applicants from Nigeria are only eligible if applying for one of her postgraduate Law programmes.
In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, the University of York is offering 5 scholarships to some international students applying for a variety of postgraduate courses.
The GREAT Scholarship 2024 programme, launched by the British Council together with 72 UK universities, supports postgraduate students from Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Ghana, Greece, Kenya, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam to access world-class UK higher education opportunities.
What You Need to Know:
- Value: A minimum of £10,000 to help cover tuition fees.
The GREAT Scholarship is open to outstanding students from China, Ghana, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, and Turkey. To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:
- Citizenship: Be a citizen of one of the listed countries.
- Program Type: Hold a conditional or unconditional offer for a one-year postgraduate taught course at the University of York (by May 20th, 2024). Note: You don’t need to have formally accepted the offer yet.
- Fee Status: Be classified as an overseas student for fee purposes (ensure all fee assessments are finalized by May 20th, 2024).
- English Language Proficiency: Meet any English language requirements outlined in your program offer by May 20th, 2024.
Combining Scholarships:
The GREAT Scholarship can be combined with other forms of external funding, as long as the total doesn’t cover 100% of your tuition fees.
Scholarship Responsibilities:
Successful scholarship recipients will be expected to take on an ambassadorial role, representing the University of York and the British Council in promoting the GREAT Scholarship program.
Nigerian Students – Eligible Courses:
Please note that students from Nigeria are only eligible to apply for the GREAT Scholarship if they have received an offer for one of the following specific postgraduate taught courses:
- LLM Law
- LLM Art Law
- LLM International Corporate and Commercial Law
- LLM International Human Rights Law and Practice
- LLM Legal and Political Theory
- MA Applied Human Rights
