REDUCTION OF SUBSIDY: CONCLUSION OF 25% RELIEF PRICE FOR LAGOS STATE COMMUTE CHARGES ON SUNDAY – LAMATA
The Lagos state government, via the Lagos metropolitan area transport authority (LAMATA), declared the conclusion of the 25% rebate on commuting charges throughout the entire Lagos state public transport system. this change takes effect starting Sunday, January 28, 2024.
LAMATA, on Friday, January 26, 2024, issued a public announcement disclosing the termination of the 25% transport fare deduction. this information was conveyed through its official x (formerly twitter) account.
remembering the past, on July 31, governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu unveiled a decrease in transport fares for state-owned buses by 50% and commercial yellow buses by 25% on all routes. this initiative aimed to alleviate the impact of the petrol subsidy removal.
the organization also recommended that residents of Lagos city pay attention to this alteration and make the necessary arrangements for the return to the standard transport fare rates established before the adjustments made in December.
in simple terms, commencing from Monday, January 29, 2024, commuting charges for regulated services will revert to 100%.
