Processing and Sintering of Ceramic Materials Using Microwave Technology for SOEC and SOFC Applications
About the Project
The Department of Mechanical, Materials, and Aerospace Engineering (MMAE) at West Virginia University anticipates filling Ph.D. graduate research positions focused on the processing and sintering of ceramic materials using microwave technology for SOEC and SOFC applications. This work is part of a U.S. Department of Energy-supported project aimed at developing cost-effective thermal processing methods for electrode materials in SOECs.
This position requires knowledge of thermal processing and ceramic material characterization. While not required, basic knowledge and hands-on experience with characterization techniques such as XRD, XPS, SEM-EDX, etc., and electrochemical methods would be beneficial. Additionally, the researcher will assist in the fabrication and electrical testing of SOFCs-SOECs. The project will require the candidate to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists.
If interested in the position, please contact Dr. Edward M. Sabolsky and Dr. Tugrul Yumak via email at ed.sabolsky@mail.wvu.edu and tugrul.yumak@mail.wvu.edu
The position will begin in the Spring 2025 semester, and the review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled.
