OTTI INAUGURATES ₦6.7BN ROAD PROJECT IN RIVERS, COMPLETED IN 8 MONTHS

The newly inaugurated 10.98 km Aleto-Ogale-Ebubu-Eteo road in Rivers State is set to serve as a crucial bypass, alleviating the pressure from the currently deteriorated East-West road. Executed at a cost of ₦6.7 billion, this project is anticipated to boost economic activities in the region.

Inauguration Ceremony

Governor Alex Otti of Abia inaugurated the road as part of the events marking Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s first year in office. The ceremony took place in Ebubu, Eleme Local Government Area on Tuesday. Governor Fubara emphasized that the new road would act as an alternative route to more motorable sections of the East-West road, reflecting the state government’s commitment to infrastructure development and support from the federal government.

Project Details and Financial Commitment

Awarded on August 14, 2023, and completed in a record eight months, the road project has been fully paid for. Governor Fubara highlighted the financial challenges inherited from the previous administration, including significant debts owed to contractors for previously inaugurated projects.

Governor Fubara expressed his commitment to good governance and aligning with leaders who positively impact their communities. He praised Governor Otti for his integrity and effective governance in Abia, inviting him to inaugurate the road as a testament to their longstanding collaboration and shared vision for service to the people.

The paramount ruler of Eleme, Philip Obele, also lauded the governor for the initiative and pledged his domain’s support for Fubara’s administration.
