NASENI TO BUILD TRACTOR PLANT IN NASARAWA

Nigeria’s science and engineering agency, NASENI, is teaming up with Nasarawa state and Bobtrack Tractors to build a tractor assembly plant in the north-central region.

NASENI’s existing facilities at the Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Development Institute (AMEDI) in Lafia will be used for the project.

This initiative aligns with President Tinubu’s plan for food security and promoting mechanized farming. NASENI’s CEO, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, emphasized their commitment and willingness to sign a formal agreement soon. He also mentioned the national tractor refurbishment program to revitalize farming across the country.

Nasarawa Governor, Abdullahi Sule, expressed support for domestic manufacturing and creating a business-friendly environment. He proposed using AMEDI’s facilities instead of acquiring new land, a suggestion welcomed by NASENI.

Bobtrack Tractors’ CEO, Ibifiri BobManuel, pledged to utilize the Nasarawa facility, create jobs, and contribute to the government’s mechanized farming goals. They’re ready to invest in the state with the support of the governor and NASENI.

This collaboration aims to boost domestic tractor production, create jobs, and contribute to Nigeria’s agricultural development.
