MTN FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 2024 FOR YOUNG NIGERIAN STUDENTS

Applications are now open for the 2024 MTN Foundation Scholarship Scheme.

The MTN Foundation established the MTN Scholarships Program in 2010 to annually recognize and reward high-performing students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions. The program offers scholarships in three categories:

1. MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (MTN STS)

  • Established in 2010.
  • Open to eligible 300-level students studying science and technology-related courses at Nigerian public universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
  • Awards 300 scholarships annually, continuing until graduation if grade requirements are met.
  • The annual award amount increased from N200,000 to N300,000 starting in 2024.

2. MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (MTN SBS)

  • Initiated in 2012.
  • Open to eligible 200 and 300-level blind students studying any course at Nigerian public universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
  • Starting in 2024, the number of recipients increased from 60 to 100.
  • The annual award amount increased from N200,000 to N300,000, continuing until graduation if grade requirements are met.

3. Top 10 UTME Scholarship

  • Established in 2020.
  • Automatically awarded to the top 10 scoring candidates in the UTME as announced by JAMB.
  • Recipients receive scholarships from their 100-level through to graduation if grade requirements are met.
  • The annual award amount increased from N200,000 to N300,000 starting in 2024.
  • Awarded regardless of the candidate’s course of study or institution (public or private) in Nigeria.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS): Open to 300-level students in science and technology-related courses at Nigerian public universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
  • MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS): Open to 200 and 300-level blind students in any course at Nigerian public universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
  • For law students, only 300-level blind students can apply due to the five-year course structure.

Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) Requirements:

  • MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS):
    • STEM students at public universities and colleges of education must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0/4 or 3.5/5 (second class upper).
    • STEM students at public polytechnics must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 (upper credit) from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) program and must secure admission into the Higher National Diploma (HND) program.
    • Direct entry-level STEM students must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 (upper credit) from the OND program and secure admission into the 300-level/3rd year at a public university.
  • MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS):
    • Blind students at universities or colleges of education must have a minimum CGPA of 2.5.
    • Blind students at public polytechnics must have a minimum CGPA of 2.0 from the OND program and must secure admission into the HND program.
