MANDELA RHODES SCHOLARSHIPS 2025 FOR AFRICAN STUDENTS TO PURSUE STUDIES AT UNIVERSITIES IN SOUTH AFRICA

The Mandela Rhodes Scholarships are available for African nationals to pursue postgraduate (Honors and Masters) studies at universities in South Africa in 2025.

Eligible Nations: Open to citizens of every African country

About the Mandela Rhodes Scholarships:

This program offers financial support for postgraduate studies and an excellent leadership development program to enhance exceptional leadership skills in Africa.A Mandela Rhodes Scholarship allows a scholar to enroll in a South African tertiary institution recognized by the South African Council on Higher Education for an accredited postgraduate degree program. The scholarship is granted for one or a maximum of two years, presently for an Honors or Masters degree.

Study Fields: The leadership development program consists of the following three components:

  1. Three residential workshops
  2. Three regional group pods
  3. Mentoring

Eligibility and Selection Criteria:

The Mandela Rhodes Scholarships are accessible to citizens of all African countries The scholarship is for postgraduate study at South African universities or tertiary institutions Full funding covers Honors (maximum one year) or Masters (up to a maximum of two years) or their equivalents (excluding MBA) Any individual aged between 19 and 30 years at the time of accepting the scholarship may apply Applicants must hold a first degree or its equivalent or must be in the process of completing one by January 31, 2021 Applicants should demonstrate a track record of academic excellence Individuals should exhibit a commitment to the four principles of Education, Reconciliation, Leadership, and Entrepreneurship in their character Participation in MRF leadership development activities, which may include weekends, is mandatory for scholarship recipients Number of Scholarships: Multiple

Value of Mandela Rhodes Scholarships: The scholarship covers the following expenses for a scholar:

  1. Tuition and registration fees set by the institution;
  2. A study materials allowance as determined by the MRF;
  3. Accommodation and meal allowances as determined by the MRF;
  4. A medical aid allowance as determined by the MRF;
  5. Economy-class travel allowance for international scholars only from their home to their institution at the beginning and back home at the end of their degree program;
  6. Personal allowance.

Duration of Scholarship: Full funding is for Honors (maximum one year) or Masters (up to a maximum of two years)
