“KOICA TRANSFERS E-GOVERNMENT DELIVERABLES WHILE NITDA REVEALS MASTER PLAN 2.0”
Nigeria’s IT regulator, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has initiated the second phase of the Nigerian e-Government Master Plan to ensure seamless and inclusive access to digital services, enhancing transparency in government processes.
Kashifu Inuwa, the DG of NITDA, announced this during the handover of deliverables to CEOs of NITDA, National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), and the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) at the e-Government Training Centre, Kubwa, Abuja.
The event marks the implementation of the first phase of the Nigerian e-Government master plan, sponsored by the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
Inuwa, represented by Mr. Oladejo Olawumi, Director I T Infrastructure Solutions, stated that the aim was to strengthen the progress made and position the government enterprise architecture as a foundation for digital governance in Nigeria.
Under the Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP 2.0), the pillar of infrastructure is committed to ensuring seamless and inclusive access to digital services.
Inuwa explained, “The enterprise architecture is a disciplined way of organizing enterprise resources to provide the capabilities required to consistently achieve outcomes of the organization’s functions and mandates.
“It specifies the principles, practices, standards, and policies that guide the way capabilities enable the IT to evolve over time and continue to deliver results even under continuous changes in political, administrative, and economic conditions.
“In line with this administration’s commitment to ensuring the implementation of sustainable initiatives and programs, the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy’s strategic plan drives towards a resilient, inclusive, and prosperous digital Nigeria by utilizing ICT to drive transparency in government and improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of public service delivery.”
NITDA, as per its mandate, developed the Nigerian Government Enterprise Architecture as part of the first phase of the Nigerian e-government master plan.
The Nigerian Government Enterprise Architecture is a critical factor in implementing various e-government related regulatory instruments, including the Nigerian e-government interoperability framework, Digital Public Infrastructure, national cloud computing policy and strategy, business process management guidelines, and more.
Mr. Songil Son, the Korean International Corporation Agency’s (KOICA) country Director, mentioned that the Enterprise Architecture is one of the project components, emphasizing the progress made and the positioning of the government enterprise architecture as a cornerstone for digital governance in Nigeria.
Representatives from Nigeria Customs Service and Nigeria Immigration Service expressed optimism about the values outlined in the guide, anticipating that the framework would ease the perfection of digital governance, fostering inclusiveness, transparency, and progress in the country.
