Kenya Protests: APRA Calls for Calm
The African Public Relations Association (APRA), has called on the Kenyan Government to put interest of the people of Kenya first.
APRA was reacting to the protests that broke out in Kenya against the #RejectFinanceBill2024 passed by the legislature.
At least 13 protesters were killed during the protests, doctors say, and a section of parliament went up in flames as demonstrations invaded the premises.
However, the executive council and members of APRA, in a statement signed by Dr. Omoniyi Ibietan, secretary-general, “condole with all Kenyans in general over the recent crisis that happened in the Republic of Kenya.
“Also, we stand in solidarity with our colleagues in the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK).
“We urge the Government of Kenya to put the people of Kenya first and in a show of conversational capacity as already indicated by the Presidency, undertake stakeholder consultations with empathy and an openness to reconciliation.
“We commiserate with the families of those who died and wish a speedy recovery to those injured during the protests. We fervently pray for the repose of the souls of the deceased”, the statement reads.
