KEBBI STATE COLLABORATES WITH COMMISSION TO ADDRESS CHALLENGES IN RIVERINE COMMUNITIES

The government of Kebbi State, in partnership with the National Hydro Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC), has committed to addressing the challenges faced by riverine communities across 14 local government areas in the state.

Additionally, the government unveiled its intention to establish skills acquisition centers within each of the four emirate councils in the state. This initiative aims to empower the youth by providing them with skills that enable self-sufficiency.

Governor Mohammed Nasir Idris, during a meeting with the Managing Director of N-HYPPADEC and other high-ranking officials at the Kebbi Governor’s Lodge in Abuja, affirmed his dedication to fulfilling campaign promises through collaborative efforts with the commission.

He expressed gratitude for the substantial benefits riverine communities in 14 local government areas have received under the auspices of N-HYPPADEC. Governor Idris highlighted ongoing efforts to train youth, emphasizing the goal of reducing unemployment rates in the state.

The Managing Director of N-HYPPADEC, Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa, explained that the purpose of the visit was to communicate the mandate, mission, and vision of N-HYPPADEC. He also outlined the commission’s contributions to mitigating ecological challenges and fostering socio-economic development in Kebbi State.
