Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the ISDB Scholarship Program, applicants must:

  • Be nationals of an ISDB member country or from a Muslim community in a non-member country
  • Demonstrate outstanding academic achievement
  • Meet the program’s specific admission requirements for their chosen field of study
  • Be committed to returning to their home country upon completion of their studies (exceptions may apply)

The ISDB offers a variety of scholarship programs to support deserving students from Muslim communities worldwide. Here’s a breakdown of the programs and eligibility:

Scholarship Programs:

  1. IsDB Scholarship Program for Muslim Communities in Non-Member Countries (SPMC): Launched in 1983, this program assists academically talented and financially disadvantaged young Muslims from non-member countries. It supports undergraduate studies in medicine, engineering, computer science, information technology, agriculture, and related fields. Students can pursue these degrees in their home countries or at ISDB member countries’ institutions.

  2. IsDB Master of Science (MSc) Scholarship Program: Established in 1998, this program focuses on developing human capital in science and technology for 20 Least Developed IsDB Member Countries (LDMCs). It offers Master’s degrees in these crucial fields.

  3. IsDB Merit Scholarship Program for High Technology (MSP): Launched in 1992, this program supports advanced studies and research (3-year PhD and 6-12 month postdoctoral programs) in 16 critical applied science and high technology areas for the development of ISDB member countries.

  4. IsDB-ISFD Scholarship Program: Established in 2019 with the Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development (ISFD), this program aims to reduce poverty in 21 LDMCs. It provides scholarships for academically strong and financially challenged young men and women to pursue bachelor’s degrees in medicine, engineering, agriculture, and related fields or technical diplomas at public institutions in their home countries or any ISDB member country.

Eligibility:

To qualify for any ISDB scholarship program, you must:

  • Demonstrate financial need for continued studies.
  • Be 24 years old or younger.
  • Not be an ISDB employee or family member (close relatives by blood or adoption).
  • Have completed high school (or equivalent) with good grades in science subjects.
  • Possess language proficiency required by the chosen university’s program.
  • Submit certified translations of documents in languages other than English or French.
  • Be in good health and willing to undergo a medical exam (if selected).
  • Preferably have secured admission to a relevant program at a recognized university in your home country or an ISDB member country.
  • Not be residing in a country other than your home country.
  • Not be receiving any other scholarship during the application and study period.
