The International Labour Organization (ILO) is now accepting applications for its 2024 Social Finance Fellowship Programme. This programme seeks qualified professionals with expertise in inclusive finance, microfinance, insurance, and development for potential placements in Mozambique, Sierra Leone, and Solomon Islands. The projects are anticipated to commence at the end of the third quarter of 2024.
Programme Objective
The goal of the fellowship is to:
- Match qualified professionals with organizations at the forefront of financial inclusion, microfinance, and impact insurance.
- Bridge skill gaps in these areas.
- Create a new generation of professionals experienced in serving low-income populations.
Fellowship Details
Each fellow will:
- Be placed with a host organization for one year.
- Support an innovation project which may include implementing a financial product, public-private partnership, digital solution, or distribution partnership.
Candidate Requirements
Ideal candidates should:
- Have expertise in financial inclusion, insurance, digital finance, and/or public-private partnerships.
- Be proactive and ready to document their learning experiences.
- Have an interest in working on development issues in developing countries.
- Be committed to providing inclusive financial and insurance services and continuing in this field post-fellowship.
- Be resourceful and capable of managing practical necessities related to travel, living, and working in a new environment.
- Be ready to work in a developing country for the fellowship duration.
Eligibility Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in economics, management, finance, banking, insurance, or other relevant fields.
Professional Experience:
- 5-10 years of experience in the financial services industry with knowledge of banking and insurance products and processes.
- Experience in project management, business analysis, and development cooperation.
- Experience in designing financial products and operations.
- Experience in developing mass market distribution strategies.
- Experience with digital technologies.
Languages:
- Proficiency in English.
- Portuguese proficiency (required for candidates applying for Mozambique).
