Early-career academics with an interest in religion and the rule of law from an international and human rights perspective are the target audience for the program.
Young scholars are prepared to teach a course on law and religion from national, international, and comparative perspectives through the coursework in this advanced certificate program in religion and the rule of law. Attendees attend two ninety-minute classes every morning taught by a range of eminent scholars of religion and law, all of whom are acknowledged as world-class authorities in their respective fields. These lecturers offer their own perspectives on law and religion topics, drawing from a variety of national, cultural, religious, and/or professional backgrounds. Small-group discussions, casebook lectures, Q&A, and other instructional strategies are used in morning classes. By the end of the program, participants ought to feel equipped to adapt a course on international and comparative law and religion to their own local contexts.

- Students who have been accepted but would not otherwise be able to attend are eligible for student grants, which help with tuition, lodging, transportation, and some food costs.
Eligibility Criteria:
- ٔThe Program is primarily meant for advanced graduate students as well as junior professors, lecturers, and fellows. Nonetheless, enrollment in a graduate program or current employment in an academic position are not prerequisites.
- Graduate students who are nearing completion of their master’s thesis or PhD dissertation (in a terminal-degree master’s program) are encouraged to apply; however, the subject matter of their dissertation or thesis must have to do with religion and the rule of law.
- Applications from people employed by international organizations, human rights and religious non-governmental organizations, or interfaith dialogue organizations are also encouraged.
- You need to be motivated to publish academic research. You will start working on a scholarly article in the months before the program, and you will take part in intensive writing tutorials to prepare the article for publication during the program.
- You must be able to communicate clearly in English both orally and in writing for academic purposes. A Zoom interview will be held with the finalists to assess their oral fluency.
- While they would appreciate your introduction and information about your future academic plans, they do not accept applications from students enrolled in undergraduate or doctoral programs at this time.
Documents Requirement:
- Personal statement: Your personal statement should outline your academic and professional interests as well as how joining the program will help you achieve your professional objectives. You have the chance to introduce yourself and discuss how you can benefit the program in your personal statement.
- A research proposal: A brief explanation of an article you are writing or plan to write about the intersection of religion and law should be included in the research proposal. Your goal should be to publish this article in a scholarly journal written in English. Applicants with well-developed research and writing proposals will be given preference.
- A resume/CV: Your academic background, professional experience, publications in English and other languages, and academic presentations you have given should all be included in your resume.
- A photograph, and
- A letter of recommendation: The person writing the recommendation letter should be someone who is familiar with your academic work, ideally a senior colleague, professor, or academic advisor. The recommender ought to be qualified to discuss your aptitude for academic writing and research in English for a global scholarly audience, as well as your interest in and ability to engage in an English-language program.
