HIIL JUSTICE ACCELERATOR PROGRAMME 2024 FOR JUSTICE STARTUPS WORLDWIDE (10,000 EUR NON-EQUITY FUNDING)

Applications are now open for the 2024 HiiL Justice Accelerator Programme. 

The acceleration program is designed for startups that already have a product in the market gaining traction and aspire to grow rapidly. It assembles a cohort of startups from various countries in Africa and the Middle East for an intensive 4-month program, featuring workshops, coaching, mentorship, and grant funding. The program, concluding with a Demo Day, also recognizes the winners of the Innovating Justice Award.

Requirements

Startups from MENA, Kenya, and Nigeria with:

People-centered solutions that prevent or resolve justice problems (refer below under “Focus for 2024″) A functional product with some traction (number of users, revenue, etc.) indicating proof of customer demand. Startups in earlier stages are encouraged to contact their respective regional innovation hubs to inquire about ideation and incubation programs. A strong team of founder(s). A revenue model. Ambition to scale beyond the immediate target market.

Benefits

HiiL’s Justice Accelerator provides a 4-month program that includes:

€10,000 non-equity funding. Workshops by industry specialists on topics such as impact measurement, marketing, commercial strategy, and financial modeling. A dedicated coach and a network of expert mentors. Access to HiiL’s global network of justice stakeholders and practitioners, along with top-notch research and development. International exposure and potential investment opportunities. The chance to win up to €20,000 at Demo Day.

Solutions Example

Claiming platforms for government entitlements/social security. Platforms preventing fraud via KYC, identity management, and fraud detection services (to enhance access to employment, finance, and insurance). Legal marketplaces providing access to legal information, advice, and representation. Platforms offering basic financial services (payments, savings, wallets) for the un- and under-banked. Platforms preventing GBV, theft, and serious crime by providing information, guidance, and security hardware. Online dispute resolution platforms. Building & tenancy management platforms.

Selection Criteria

The selection process includes online interviews to be held between 8 April – 16 May 2024. The program kicks off on 30th May 2024.
