GOGETTAZ AGRIPRENEUR PRIZE COMPETITION 2024 FOR YOUNG AFRICAN ENTREPRENEURS (USD 100,000 CASH PRIZE)

Applications are now open for the 2024 GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize Competition. Africa’s food sector faces mounting challenges in climate resilience, food security, and nutrition. The need for groundbreaking solutions has never been greater.
Eligibility Requirements
The Entrepreneur
- The entrepreneur must be 35 years old or younger at the time of submission, and legally recognized as an adult in their country of nationality.
- They must hold nationality from a country that is a member of the African Union, with official identification.
- The entrepreneur should be the founder or co-founder of the represented venture and actively involved in its leadership and operations.
- They should have a clean record with no criminal offenses related to corruption, tax evasion, financial impropriety, felony, or other offenses.
The Venture
- The venture must be legally registered in a country that is a member of the African Union or have initiated the registration process before July 1, 2024.
- It should be headquartered in a country that is a member of the African Union.
- The venture should demonstrate a clear path to financial sustainability, operating as either a for-profit business or a non-profit generating revenue without dependence on donor funding.
- The venture must be actively involved in the agrifood sector or support its development through innovation or process improvement across various domains within the sector.
The agrifood sector may include businesses engaged in:
- Agrifood research & development
- Primary food production (farming)
- Crop nutrition
- Irrigation
- Mechanisation, automation, or robotics, including drones
- Crop protection
- Hydroponics or urban farming
- Transport, distribution, storage, or logistics
- Food processing
- Packaging or marketing
- Food retail or service
- Waste management or recycling
- Digital or technology solutions/services to the agrifood sector
- Innovative finance solutions/services to the agrifood sector
- Renewable energy or environmental solutions/services to the agrifood sector
Prizes and Recognition
- Two grand prizes of $50,000 each will be awarded to the most promising and impactful female and male agripreneur-led businesses.
- The competition will recognize ventures making significant contributions to improving rural livelihoods, nutrition, climate resilience, technology, gender equality, natural resources conservation, and job creation.
- Top contestants will have the opportunity to participate in the Agribusiness Deal Room and the 2025 GoGettaz Africa Leadership Program.
- Selected entrepreneurs will benefit from personalized support, individual coaching, peer-to-peer sessions, and workshops led by thought leaders, fostering continuous growth and development even after the competition concludes.
- The top GoGettaz agripreneurs will get an all-expenses-paid trip to pitch their businesses at the GoGettaz Finals at the Africa Food Systems Forum Summit, held in Kigali, Rwanda.
