FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SET TO RESOLVE ISSUES REGARDING THE APPOINTMENT OF THE CHAIRMAN OF MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE COUNCIL BOARD
The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare is actively working to address the concerns raised by the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) regarding the appointment of Dr. Babajide Salako as the new chairperson of the Board of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
According to a statement released yesterday by the Director of Information, Patricia Deworitshe, the ministry is currently examining the appointment in accordance with the provisions outlined in the council’s establishment Act.
The statement further assures that the ministry will ensure strict adherence to the legal requirements for appointing the chairman of the council.
In recent reports by Daily Trust on Sunday, AMLSN urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reconsider the appointment of Dr. Babajide Salako as the new chairperson of the MLSCN board, the regulatory body for their profession.
Dr. Casmir Ifeanyi, the national president of the association, expressed the association’s rejection of Salako’s appointment, citing that as a medical doctor, it violates the law governing the council’s establishment.
