FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PLANS TO SET UP 24 CENTERS FOR SKILLS AND INNOVATION NATIONWIDE

The visit to Innov8 Hub in Abuja on Tuesday by Minister Mamman, accompanied by TETFund’s Executive Secretary, Arch. Sonny Echono, and other stakeholders, revealed plans for 24 skills and innovation centers across Nigeria. Innov8 Hub, focusing on startup incubation, technology transfer, knowledge and skill impartation, prototype development, and fabrication, is currently partnering with TETFund for practical training and mentorship to empower Nigerian youths and academics, aiming to produce employable graduates and enhance research.

Minister Mamman expressed the goal of providing equal opportunities to all Nigerian children through the establishment of these skills centers nationwide. He commended Innov8 Hub for offering hope to young individuals with ideas and a desire to acquire essential skills, envisioning it as a catalyst to propel Nigeria to greater heights.

Acknowledging the partnership with TETFund, Minister Mamman emphasized the need for collaboration with entrepreneurs and relevant ministries to bridge the gap between researchers and industries. He pledged to advocate for this cause and involve influential entrepreneurs to witness the impactful work happening at Innov8 Hub.

While noting the gap with off-takers, Mamman assured that the government would take steps to ensure a connection between researchers and industries. He pledged to bring in prominent entrepreneurs, government officials, and ensure training for students, especially those from diverse backgrounds, including Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
