EJN Climate Change Media Fellowship: Fully Funded Trip to COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan

Applications are now open for the Climate Change Media Partnership COP29 Reporting Fellowship. The Climate Change Media Partnership (CCMP), led by Internews’ Earth Journalism Network (EJN) and the Stanley Center for Peace and Security, is pleased to announce the CCMP COP29 Reporting Fellowship Program for journalists interested in covering the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29). Hosted this year by Azerbaijan, the conference is scheduled to take place in the city of Baku from November 11-22, 2024.

Eligibility:

  • Professional journalist from a low- or middle-income country (see list on application website). Journalists from neighboring regions (Balkans, Baltics, Eastern Europe, Caucasus, Central Asia) are also encouraged to apply this year.
  • Employed by or representing an established media outlet.
  • Available to travel to Baku from November 9th to 24th, 2024.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Experience reporting on climate change issues.
  • Committed to participating in all fellowship activities.
  • Up-to-date resume/CV.
  • Letter of support from editor confirming publication/broadcast of your reports. Freelancers must provide a letter from their intended media outlet.
  • Recent journalistic work samples on climate change (past 12 months), in any language with a short English synopsis. Clips must focus on climate change.

Benefits:

  • EJN will cover all expenses: economy-class airfare, accommodation, meals, travel insurance, ground transportation, press accreditation, and logistical support.
  • Fellows will attend the entire COP29 conference in Baku.
