DAVID A. LONG PHD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 2024 FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AT USA

The Water Works Operators’ Association of Pennsylvania (WWOAP), in partnership with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, sponsors the David A. Long, Ph.D. Memorial Scholarship for high school students across the United States. The scholarship aims to promote higher education related to the water works industry.

Details of the Scholarship:

• Total Number of Scholarships: 2
• Scholarship Award Value: $1,500 each, along with a free student membership for WWOAP

Eligibility Criteria for David A. Long PhD Memorial Scholarship 2024:

• Must be a U.S. resident
• Currently pursuing an undergraduate course, preferably in a field relevant to the water supply industry
• Must not have previously received this award
• Pennsylvania residency is preferred, but applicants may select an out-of-state institution
• Considered a Pennsylvania resident if: pay PA income tax (or parent(s) do), possess a valid PA driving license, registered to vote in PA, and have registered personal property (e.g., car) with PA

Supporting Documents Required:

• 1-page essay outlining career goals and why the applicant is a strong candidate for the scholarship
• 1-page resume
• One reference letter from a professor in the applicant’s current program (contact information provided, request for reference sent directly to professor)
