Cultural and Artistic Responses to the Environmental Crisis (CAREC) Programme 2024 (Up to €10.000)
Opportunity Description
November 2024A year-long program called Cultural and Artistic Responses to the Environmental Crisis (CAREC) aims to accelerate community-based artistic practices that are engaged, address the social, political, and economic elements of the environmental catastrophe, and prioritize climate justice.
By means of this program, they establish an interdisciplinary forum to facilitate critical artistic endeavors, establish connections among committed practitioners, foster cross-disciplinary communication, and elevate non-hegemonic forms of knowledge in order to imagine alternative models of climate justice around the globe.
Workshops, guest lectures, and peer-to-peer sessions are just a few of the ways this program integrates interaction to help each artist in their own practice and to foster collaboration within the cohort. Since participants are dispersed across many regions, the majority of events take place virtually. Nonetheless, they meet in person twice during the program for two Lab Weeks, which are rigorous mentoring sessions lasting a week. There is also a group project that takes the shape of a website and a publication.
Although this varies throughout the year, the program activities need an average time commitment of 10 hours each month. In order to promote an environment of mutual learning and exchange, participants should also feel at ease exchanging ideas in spoken English.
