This unique four-month program equips 15 individuals with the expertise to address critical challenges in internet interconnection across Africa.

The AfPIF Fellowship provides a dynamic learning opportunity designed to enhance collaboration and knowledge sharing within the African Internet ecosystem. Through the fellowship, participants deepen their expertise and drive meaningful impact, focusing on addressing challenges in interconnection, peering, and traffic exchange while maximizing opportunities for Internet growth at the African Peering and Interconnection Forum.

AfPIF Fellowship: Are You the Missing Piece? (Apply by May 8th!)

Calling all African internet champions! Do you work on developing internet exchange points (IXPs) or tackle internet peering issues in your country? This fellowship is for YOU!

The Opportunity:

  • The Internet Society’s AfPIF Fellowship is a 4-month program designed to equip 15 individuals with the skills to address internet interconnection challenges in Africa.

Who They’re Looking For:

  • African residents passionate about IXPs and internet peering.
  • Individuals involved in internet peering policy, business, or technical aspects in their region.
  • People with a basic understanding of the internet and hands-on networking experience using dynamic routing protocols.
  • A strong grasp of Unix/Linux, basic DNS, and networking concepts.
  • Those with reliable internet access and the necessary devices.
  • A commitment to actively participate in the entire 4-month program.
  • English proficiency is a must.

What You Get:

  • Selected fellows may receive partial or full sponsorship to attend the African Peering and Interconnection Forum (AfPIF) 2024 in Kinshasa, DRC.
    • Partial package: Covers either round-trip airfare or event accommodation.
    • Full package: Covers both airfare and accommodation.
  • All fellows will receive a stipend for local transportation and miscellaneous expenses during the event.
