The African Union Youth Envoy and Google have launched the DiscoverMyAfrica Shorts Challenge, a month-long celebration of Africa’s vibrant spirit and diverse heritage.

Calling All African Creators!

  • Show Your Africa: Throughout May, YouTube creators across Africa are invited to share short videos showcasing their unique perspectives on African life.
    • Food, fashion, music, art, local landmarks – the possibilities are endless!
  • Join the Movement: Use the hashtag #DiscoverMyAfrica and upload your video on YouTube Shorts.

More Than Just a Challenge

  • Music Nights: YouTube Music Nights in Nigeria and South Africa will celebrate Afrobeats and Amapiano, showcasing Africa’s vibrant music scene.
  • Curated Playlists: Dedicated playlists on YouTube Music (“Africa’s Next Wave” and “Africa Superstars”) highlight both emerging and established African musical talent.

Exclusive Nollywood Premieres

  • Spa with Osas: Nollywood star Osas Ighodaro takes viewers on a luxurious Lagos adventure.
  • All of Us: Enioluwa and The Geng bring high school drama and secrets to light.
  • Shaggi’s Palava: Comedy superstar Broda Shaggi guarantees laughs with his new project.

Empowering Creators

  • Workshops: Aspiring filmmakers and creators can participate in specialized workshops designed to hone their skills and expand their reach.
