BAKARI’S APPOINTMENT AS DIRECTOR OF NFIU APPROVED BY SENATE

The Senate confirmed Ms. Hafsat Abubakar Bakari as the Director of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) following her appointment by President Bola Tinubu.

In a letter to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu requested the confirmation of Bakari as the head of NFIU, succeeding Modibbo Tukur, who was relieved of the position in June 2023.

The Senate’s confirmation of Bakari came after reviewing a report from the Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes, led by Senator Udende Emmanuel (APC Benue North East), following her successful screening.
