In line with the Alex Otti Foundation’s mission to ensure more outstanding yet underprivileged Nigerian students access tertiary education, the foundation is inviting suitably qualified and eligible Nigerian undergraduates to submit their application forms for the 2023/2024 scholarship session.

Prospective candidates must meet the stated requirements and submit their applications before the deadline.

ABOUT THE ALEX OTTI FOUNDATION UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP: The Alex Otti Foundation scholarship program aims to empower young individuals through educational opportunities, particularly targeting outstanding individuals demonstrating future leadership potential in Abia State. This program assists students in publicly-owned tertiary institutions in Nigeria in offsetting their educational costs.

The Foundation calls for applications for its undergraduate scholarship scheme for the 2023/2024 session. The scheme aims to provide financial support to disadvantaged students ancestrally from or residing in Abia State to facilitate their educational pursuits.

Scholarships will be granted based on a strong academic background, leadership potential, and a demonstrated commitment to utilizing acquired knowledge for societal development. Recipients are expected to apply their talents and expertise towards improving the lives of others post-studies. Over time, the Foundation anticipates that scholarship beneficiaries will form a network of leaders contributing to the well-being of Abia State and Nigeria.

BENEFITS OF THE ALEX OTTI FOUNDATION 2024 UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP: The scholarship will cover tuition and living expenses for selected candidates across universities, polytechnics, and other higher institutions nationwide.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Candidates meeting these criteria are eligible to apply:

• Currently in 2nd year (200 Level) in any government-owned tertiary institution in Nigeria.
• Admitted in the 2021/2022 academic session and maintaining 2nd year status by the end of April 2024.
• Minimum CGPA of 3.5 for universities (or equivalent for other tertiary institutions) in the 100 level academic session.
• Direct entry candidates who secured admission into 2nd year and will remain in 2nd year by April 2024 can apply.

NOTE: Criteria adjustments may apply for candidates in institutions affected by academic session disruptions.

INELIGIBLE APPLICANTS:

• Siblings sharing the same parents with current Alex Otti scholars, until their sibling’s scholarship concludes (siblings of Alex Otti graduates are eligible).
• Other criteria include submission of academic session statement, community/religious group leader’s recognition letter or electricity bill for the last three months, a 1200-word essay, and valid means of identification.

Important Notes

• The scholarship is for residents in Abia State. There is no difference between those who ancestrally hail from the state and those whose families migrated from elsewhere. As long as you live in the state, even if you are schooling elsewhere in Nigeria, you are eligible.
• Indigent students are those whose families cannot genuinely afford the cost of tertiary education. Those with the means to afford tertiary education should consider staying away from this scholarship as a way of giving back to society.
• Due to the volume of entries received in every edition, only candidates who scale through the first screening will be contacted.
