“AMERICAN GEOPHYSICAL UNION INVITES NOMINATIONS FOR SCIENCE JOURNALISM AWARDS”

Deadline: March 27, 2024 — The American Geophysical Union (AGU) is inviting journalists to propose nominations for its science journalism awards.

The science journalism awards aim to acknowledge stories that enhance comprehension and awareness of Earth and space sciences.

AGU is accepting submissions for the following award categories:

1. The David Perlman Award for Excellence in Science Journalism – News

2. The Walter Sullivan Award for Excellence in Science Journalism – Features

The David Perlman Award category seeks Earth and space science news reporting generally produced under a deadline pressure of one week or less. On the other hand, the Walter Sullivan Award category is designated for a feature story or series that makes information about Earth and space sciences accessible and interesting to non-scientific audiences.

Entries for both the news and features awards must have been published or broadcasted in 2023.

Aside from the opportunity to attend the AGU Fall Meeting, winners will receive a prize of $5,000.

The deadline for nominations is March 27, 2024.
