Applications are now open for the 2024 African Private Equity Fellowship Program. This 6-month executive program is designed to provide training and networking opportunities for talented investors in Africa.
About the Program: The African Private Equity Fellowship, organized by Proparco, a subsidiary of Agence Française de Développement (AFD Group), is part of the French initiative Choose Africa. The program supports African entrepreneurship by providing financing and assistance to start-ups, microenterprises, and MSMEs at various development stages.
Program Requirements:
- Open to investment professionals across the African continent.
- Emphasis on achieving gender parity.
- Applicants must be currently working in PE/VC/Private Debt or in Finance with a desire to transition into these sectors.
- Must be working with the African continent.
- Fluent in English.
- Have 2 to 6 years of experience in PE/VC/Private Debt.
- Available to commit approximately 2-3 hours per week to the program.
Program Content:
- Major trends in private equity in Africa.
- Macro risk management.
- Financing/debt with a focus on private credit in Africa.
- Growth of Venture Capital in Africa.
- ESG considerations in private equity.
- Sector focus on Infrastructure, Energy, Telco/FinTech, Healthcare, Agri-food, etc.
- Regional focus on East & South Asia, MENA, West Africa, etc.
Commitment:
- The program is fully online and free of charge.
- Mandatory webinars every two weeks after working hours.
- 2-3 hours per week over a 6-month period, including both synchronous (mandatory) webinars and asynchronous activities (optional MOOC, mentorship, etc.).
- Fellows are expected to demonstrate commitment and rigor due to the high quality of the program’s stakeholders.

- Applications for the third cohort, starting in Fall 2024, are now open.
- The application deadline is July 24, 2024.
