AFRICAN LEADERSHIP CENTER PEACE AND SECURITY FELLOWSHIP 2024/2025 FOR AFRICAN WOMEN (FULLY FUNDED TO UK)

Applications are now open for the African Leadership Center Peace and Security Fellowship.

This program is designed for young African women, especially those from war-torn areas, who want careers in peacebuilding research, policy, and practice.

The Fellowship’s Mission

  • Equip women with skills to become peacebuilding leaders.
  • Develop African-led solutions for peace and security.
  • Support women in challenging traditional views on conflict.

What You Gain

  • Earn a Master’s degree in Global Leadership and Peacebuilding from King’s College London.
  • Develop research skills through guided projects and mentorship.
  • Gain practical experience working with African peacebuilding organizations.
  • Build a network of peacebuilding experts.

Program Structure

  • Phase 1 (1 year):
    • Live and study at King’s College London.
    • Participate in group mentoring sessions with peacebuilding professionals.
    • Conduct research on peace, security, and development in Africa.
    • Visit relevant academic and policy institutions.
  • Phase 2 (6 months):
    • Work as a faculty member at a university or research center in Africa.
    • Contribute to research and policy development.
    • Conduct your own research project on a peacebuilding topic.
    • Share your research findings through publications and presentations.

Who Can Apply

  • Woman citizen of an African country (priority given to those from conflict zones)
  • Valid travel documents
  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree (additional experience a plus)
  • Experience or knowledge of women’s rights and gender issues.
  • Committed to peacebuilding in Africa with a clear plan to use your learnings.
  • Research skills related to peace, security, and development.
  • Committed to program values: African-led solutions, independent thinking, integrity, excellence, youth leadership, and diversity.
  • Actionable plan for applying your fellowship knowledge back home.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English (English proficiency test required)
