Africa PhD and MSc scholarships in natural resources management: Africa’s natural resources face significant degradation and mismanagement. Timely data collection, analysis (including modeling approaches), and dissemination of scientific information are crucial for interventions in managing these resources.
Investing in young scientists committed to sustainable resource management is essential. The primary objective of the summer school is to cultivate a critical mass of skilled young natural resource scientists in Africa through training and mentorship.
It aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of passionate young scientists (MSc and early PhD students) engaged in data collection and monitoring in natural resources management (agriculture, forestry, nature conservation, and climate change adaptation), but lack proficiency in data handling and utilization for management and policy.
This will be achieved through three Summer School sessions (2019, 2020, and 2021) with modules covering various aspects such as data management, geospatial techniques, data analysis using R, scientific communication, and management strategies in natural resources management.
The current call for applications focuses on modules 3 and 4, designated for session 2.
