PUBLISEER EMBARKS ON APPLE BOOKS DIGITAL NARRATION INITIATIVE FOR AFRICAN AUTHORS

Apple Books Digital Narration marks a recent innovation by Apple, enabling authors to effortlessly transform their existing ebooks into audiobooks using advanced text-to-speech technology. The voices employed in this feature are crafted to sound natural and are based on human narrators.

This development significantly lowers the cost and enhances the accessibility of audiobook creation. Authors affiliated with Publiseer can simply inform the platform of their desire to convert their ebooks into audiobooks. Subsequently, Publiseer forwards the ebook to Apple, where it undergoes the transformation process and becomes available for purchase on the Apple Books store.

The entire procedure typically takes approximately two months for Apple to complete the request and publish the audiobook on their platform. New authors joining Publiseer benefit from an automatic submission of their ebooks to Apple for audiobook conversion, unless they specify otherwise.

Chidi Nwaogu, one of Publiseer’s founders, lauds Apple as an excellent platform for authors to attract new readers. Apple offers a competitive royalty percentage, actively supports book promotion, and distinguishes itself as a prominent retail bookstore by including book descriptions in search results, thereby granting authors substantial control over the search visibility of their books.

Nwaogu expresses satisfaction with the outcomes since Publiseer’s inception, highlighting impressive results in terms of sales and exposure for their authors on the Apple Books platform.

Publiseer, operational in eight African countries, has facilitated over 9,000 African content creators in distributing more than 19,000 digital content items, accumulating around 85 million downloads and streams. In 2023, Ernst & Young recognized Publiseer as one of the 100 ‘most meaningful businesses in the world.
