NYSC Reacts to Alleged ‘N70,000 Pay for Corps Members’

NYSC Reacts to Alleged ‘N70,000

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has refuted claims circulating on social media that it directed corps members to upgrade their accounts in preparation for receiving a N70,000 minimum wage.

In a statement released on Sunday in Abuja by the NYSC’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, the organization clarified that the information being shared is entirely false.

Megwa emphasized that neither the NYSC nor any relevant government body responsible for wage matters has issued such a directive. “Corps members, parents, and the public should be aware that no directive has been received from any government sector responsible for wage issues,” he stated. “As such, it is impossible for the NYSC to issue any directive related to the alleged wage increase.”

He further advised corps members to remain vigilant and adhere to the established channels and modes of communication provided by the NYSC. “Corps members already know the approved channels and modes of communication within the scheme and should, therefore, disregard the false directive.”

Megwa also issued a stern warning to bloggers and social media influencers, cautioning them against making unauthorized statements about NYSC management. He urged them to refrain from spreading misinformation that could mislead the public and cause unnecessary confusion.

The NYSC’s statement serves as a reminder for all involved to rely on official communications and avoid being swayed by misleading information from unverified sources.
