Overview

Applications are now open for the 2024 AGNES Early Career Climate Fellowship Programme (ECCF). This program offers talented young professionals from Kenya an opportunity to start their careers at the intersection of climate science, policy development, and practice, potentially emerging as the next generation of climate leaders. Supported by the AGNES NDC Delivery Lab, the fellowship provides exposure to diverse working environments and decision-making processes within the climate change landscape.

NDC Delivery Lab

The NDC Delivery Lab is an innovative, multi-sectoral approach ensuring the effective translation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) into impactful investments, delivery plans, and on-the-ground climate action implementation. It fosters creative and innovative solutions to address climate risks.

Fellowship Aim

The fellowship aims to develop Kenya’s next generation of independent climate leaders equipped with a deep understanding of the climate science-policy-practice nexus. It targets academically outstanding young graduates with the potential to become climate leaders, providing an opportunity to build an independent career in this field.

Duration

  • Start Date: July 1st, 2024
  • End Date: December 31st, 2024
  • Commitment: Full-time participation

Eligibility Requirements

  • Nationality: Kenyan
  • Age: Not more than 28 years old
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in any field
  • Experience: Early career researcher with no more than two years since degree completion
  • Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, creative, innovative, and critical thinking
  • Motivation: Highly motivated to work and learn in a multicultural, interdisciplinary environment

Applicants currently employed must provide evidence of their employer’s permission for the fellowship duration. A clear interest in the science-policy-practice interface is essential.

Benefits

  • Stipend: A fellowship stipend will be paid according to AGNES’ Human Resources Manual.

Application Procedure

A complete application package includes:

  1. Cover Letter: Maximum 1 page, detailing how qualifications and future career goals align with the ECCF programme requirements.
  2. CV: Maximum 2 pages, up-to-date.
  3. Academic Transcripts/Degree Certificates: Copies of all relevant documents to date.
