Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the Émile Boutmy Scholarships, applicants must:

  • Be first-time applicants from a non-European Union state.
  • Have a household that does not file taxes within the European Union.
  • Have been admitted to the Undergraduate or Master’s programme.

Ineligible Candidates

  • Swiss and Norwegian applicants (as they may be entitled to CROUS scholarships).
  • Candidates with dual citizenship, including an EU citizenship.
  • Candidates from Quebec for master’s degree programmes (eligible for bachelor’s degrees).
  • Master’s level dual-degree candidates, except for specific dual degrees:
    • Journalism Sciences Po/Columbia University
    • Sciences Po/Fudan University (Europe-Asia in Global Affairs, Chinese nationality)
    • Sciences Po/Peking University (Chinese nationality)
  • Ph.D. programme students.
  • Candidates for one-year Master’s programmes.
  • Bachelor dual degree candidates (unless specified in agreements).
  • Exchange students.
  • Candidates applying via the French graduate admission procedure.

Benefits

Bachelor’s Degree Programme

  • €14,210 per year for three years.
  • €9,500 per year for three years.
  • €6,500 per year for three years.
  • €3,900 per year for three years.
  • Scholarships are automatically renewed if the student continues their graduate studies at Sciences Po.

Master’s Level

  • €13,100 per year (amount for 2023, 2024 amount to be confirmed), covering part of the tuition fees for the two years of the Master’s degree programme.

Required Documents

Undergraduate Level

  • Proof of income and documents explaining family situation (e.g., income tax return for both parents, payslips, divorce certificate, unemployment benefits, alimony, child support, retirement pensions, death certificate).

Graduate Level

  • No additional documents required initially, but proof of income may be requested if necessary.

Application Procedure

  1. Visit the scholarship application page.
  2. Apply for an undergraduate or master’s admission at Sciences Po.
  3. Indicate application for the Émile Boutmy scholarship in the “Financial information” section of the Sciences Po application.
  4. Provide proof of income and documents explaining family situation (as listed above).
  5. Masters level candidates must also indicate their scholarship application in the “Financial information” section and may be asked to provide similar documentation.

The Émile Boutmy Scholarships offer significant financial support to international students, helping to ease their transition and studies at Sciences Po.
