BKMC YOUTH AGRICHAMPIONS PROGRAM 2024

The Ban Ki-Moon Centre for Global Citizens (BKMC) is currently accepting applications for its Youth AgriChampions 2024 Program.

Background of the University

This marks the third edition of the Peer2Peer workshop series focusing on climate adaptation in agriculture, organized by the BKMC. The program aims to bring together approximately 15 young voices from the realm of smallholder farming and agricultural entrepreneurship in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Zambia. These participants will share their firsthand experiences in adapting their practices to climate change during the workshops scheduled for July 2024.

Aim and Objectives

During the workshops, the BKMC Youth AgriChampions will collaborate to develop a youth demand paper. This paper will be presented in high-level political forums by BKMC co-chair and the 8th Secretary-General of the UN, Ban Ki-moon. The thematic focus of the 2024 Demand Paper will be “locally-led adaptation for smallholder farming”.

Previously selected Youth AgriChampions have joined the BKMC delegation at COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh and COP28 in Dubai to launch the Demand Paper and represent farmers worldwide.

The Youth AgriChampions Workshop Series 2024 is aimed at young smallholder farmers, agripreneurs, and youth involved in the agricultural sector, aged between 18 to 35 from Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Zambia.
