DR. BOSUN TIJANI JOINS DIGITAL INNOVATION BOARD AS APPOINTED BY ITU

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has selected Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, to be part of the Digital Innovation Board within the framework of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Alliance for Digital Development.

This alliance aims to bridge the global digital innovation gap and support ITU members in their efforts to achieve a fair and inclusive digital future.

Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani joins 17 other distinguished individuals, each nominated based on their personal achievements in innovation. They will collectively offer strategic guidance, expertise, and advocacy to advance the alliance’s goals and vision.

The Digital Innovation Board, formed by the Alliance, will provide strategic direction, expertise, and advocacy for its mission to build essential local capabilities, foster innovation and entrepreneurship in digital development, and promote a more inclusive and equitable digital future.

While the Alliance accelerates innovation capacity and creates connections at the national, regional, and global levels, the Board will play a crucial role in advancing the alliance’s global efforts. This includes leading discussions on promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in digital development with key stakeholders and potential partners, including UN agencies, governments, and the private sector.

The Alliance aims to achieve five strategic objectives to expedite countries’ progression toward an innovation-driven digital economy.

Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani assumed the role of Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy in August of the preceding year, following his appointment by President Bola Tinubu.
