KEBBI STATE ALLOCATES 10 HECTARES TO NASENI FOR AMEDI ESTABLISHMENT
Kebbi state government handed over 10 hectares of land to NASENI to build an Agricultural Machinery Development Institute (AMEDI) in Birni Kebbi. This follows a federal directive for each of Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones to have an AMEDI.
The land, located along the Birnin Kebbi-Argungu road, was officially transferred from Kebbi’s permanent secretary, Alhaji Dahiru Zaki, to NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu. Zaki led a delegation of state officials to the ceremony.
Kebbi was chosen due to its vast agricultural potential, particularly in rice production, within the North-West geopolitical zone. NASENI’s Director of Procurement, Dr. Mohammed Mohammed, received the documents on behalf of the agency’s head.
Zaki expressed gratitude to the federal government for establishing the institute in Kebbi, highlighting its potential to boost development and create jobs for young people. He emphasized Kebbi’s leading role in rice and cash crop production, which influenced the decision.
He added that,
”This land was earmarked by the state government in the last two years for allocation to NASENI for establishment of AMEDI. We are the leading producer of rice and so many other crops and that is what informed the decision to site this project in Kebbi state.”
Dr. Mohammed, representing NASENI’s leadership, thanked Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi for providing the strategically located land near Birnin Kebbi’s airport road. He assured that construction would begin immediately as preparations are already underway.
